Minutes of the special meeting of the City Commission held Monday, July 17, 2006, at 1:00 p.m., in the City Commission Room.
Mayor Bradley Kilmer called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Mayor Bradley Kilmer and Vice Mayor Spycher; Commissioners Bissell, Holton, Joslin, Moreno and Tilmann
Commissioners Absent: None
Others Present: City Clerk Flynn, City Attorney Romashko. Guest: Mr. William Baldridge, MML Consultant
The purpose of the meeting was to interview candidates for the position of City Manager.
The Commission interviewed the following candidates:
Kevin Anderson, South Haven;
Kathie Grinzinger, Mt. Pleasant;
Peter Auger, Davison;
Spencer Nebel, Sault Ste. Marie; and
Dennis Bow, Flushing.
After the interviews the Commission recessed at 5:45 p.m.
A reception was held at 7:00 p.m. for the candidates, staff and public at which time the candidates also gave a brief statement.
The Commission received comments from the City peer group and staff.
Commissioners discussed the candidates based on their interview.
After discussion, the Commission selected their top three (3) candidates. Those candidates were Kevin Anderson, Peter Auger and Kathie Grinzinger. Mr. Anderson was the lead candidate.
The Commission decided to have three (3) of their members, along with Public Safety Director Yeagley, conduct a site visit to Mr. Anderson’s and Mr. Auger’s communities to conduct further checks on these candidates.
The Commission will add the selection of the City Manager position as an agenda item at their July 24, 2006 meeting.
Moved by Commissioner Joslin and supported by Commissioner Holton that the meeting be adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
