Information Technology Specialist
The City of Mt. The Information Technology Specialist supports and maintains the City’s computer system, intranet and website, with primary focus on end user support. The position upholds the computer system’s performance with emphasis on workstations, desktops, laptops, and peripherals, including installing, setting up, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment.
Successful candidates will possess strong problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills and enjoy working in a team-based environment. Solid communication skills are vital to working with many employees in a variety of departments as well as the public.
The Information Technology Specialist reports directly to the Assistant Finance Director.
Pay rate: $13.00 per hour
Availability and schedule:
This is a variable hour employee position; as such the typical work week is 20 hours. Additional hours will be available to cover vacation, emergencies and other unexpected events. Schedule flexibility is offered.
Overview of required skills:
- Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or an Associate Degree in Computer Science and Information Technology with end user support work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to meet the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted. Website maintenance experience preferred.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate, orally, and in writing regarding any aspect within the scope of responsibility; establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public and other employees; and use proven problem solving techniques to resolve issues and conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to independently and cooperatively plan, organize, prioritize, coordinate, and evaluate multiple events and activities; and actively participate in professional work teams.
- Ability to independently solve problems, prioritize and troubleshoot issues while simultaneously managing multiple projects and demands.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Operating Systems, and antivirus programs.
- Must possess a high level of professional and personal integrity and be committed to the concept of organizational excellence.
- Must have personal vehicle available for on-the-job use, (mileage reimbursement available) a valid Michigan Operator’s license, and a safe driving record.
