PEAK Site Coordinator - West Intermediate School

The City of Mt. Pleasant is seeking resumes from creative and energetic individuals with a background in early childhood education, child development, or recreation looking for a fulfilling opportunity to work with children within the after school/summer programming realm for the position of PEAK Site Coordinator at West Intermediate School.  This part-time position works under the general direction and supervision of the PEAK Program Coordinator and is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the PEAK summer and after school programs at West Intermediate School.  The PEAK Site Coordinator will coordinate and consult with the PEAK Program Coordinator in the development and implementation of academic, enrichment, and recreational activities at the site, while creating a safe and positive environment for participants, staff, and volunteers.  This position will assist in interfacing school day curriculum into after school and summer camp activities, and direct site staff to carry out program objectives in a positive, timely, and creative manner. 

A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or recreation is preferred. The ideal candidate will have four (4) years of successful college course work with a major in Recreation, Education or related human service field, or two (2) years of formal education and two (2) years’ experience working with children in a program or camp setting.  The successful candidate will have experience in program staff supervision in a day camp or related setting.

The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for approximately 20 hours/week during the school-year program; and 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for approximately 40 hours/week during the summer day camp program.  Additional hours may be required as needed.   The hiring wage is $13.00/hour.
