M-2 Redevelopment

The M-2 Multiple-Family Residential Districts are designed to provide sites for multiple-family dwelling structures and related uses which will generally serve as zones of transition between the nonresidential districts and lower-density residential districts. This district also provides for other forms of living units primarily related to the University such as rooming and boarding dwellings and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs).

The City has provided a process under which non-conforming properties can redevelop without achieving full conformance in order to address existing, non-conforming properties in the M-2 zoning district and to promote higher standards of building design, safety, and site aesthetics. Several text changes to the zoning ordinance have been adopted (effective October 28, 2015) in order to improve and formalize that process.
