RESIDENTIAL TRADE YOUR TREASURES/LARGE ITEM
PICKUP PROGRAM
Do you have large items you no longer need cluttering up your garage or basement? This program is for you! Three times a year, Code Enforcement teams up with the Department of Public Works to offer a Trade Your Treasures/Large Item Pickup Program.
DATES FOR 2008 HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED AS FOLLOWS:
Trade Your Treasures: May 10-11 Large Item pick up: May 16.
Trade Your Treasures: June 21-22 Large Item pick-up: June 27.
Trade Your Treasures: September 6-7 Large Item pick-up: September 12.
Here’s how the program works:
TRADE YOUR TREASURES
The Trade Your Treasures portion of this program allows residents to place their unwanted items at the curb for trading the Saturday and Sunday before the pick up date. Residents are encouraged to call Public Works at 779-5401 with their list of unwanted items, which will then be posted on the City website so others may find and take them during the trading period. Property owners are responsible for the proper disposal of all items not claimed during this trading weekend. In addition, items placed at the curbside shall at no time obstruct any city sidewalk, street, or view of traffic.
LARGE ITEM PICKUP
Beginning the week before the pickup date, you can buy a sticker for each large item you want picked up—grills, mattresses, furniture, appliances, lawn mowers, etc. at a charge of $10 per item--$35 for refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners (because they contain Freon). Application and fees must be made by 4:30 the Thursday before the pickup date.
Affix one sticker on each item you want hauled and place at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the day of pickup.
Stickers are available at City Hall and at the Department of Public Works.
Pianos, hot tubs, clothing and collections of small miscellaneous items are not eligible for pickup.
Under the following conditions, items acceptable for pick up include: Building materials that are bundled in no longer than four foot (4') lengths and weigh no more than 50 pounds with the nails removed; dry carpet rolls that are bundled into no longer than four foot (4') lengths and weigh no more than 50 pounds, and water softeners with the salt removed.
