The Department of Planning / Zoning and Community Development

• Works with developers looking for sites in the city to suit their needs.

• Assists the public with zoning-related questions and permitted uses of property in the city.

• Facilitates Planning Commission activities including site plan reviews, special use permits, rezoning requests, and keeping the Zoning Ordinance and City Master Plan up-to-date.

• Facilitates projects undertaken by the TIFA, DDA, EDC and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.

• Coordinates activities of the Neighborhood Action Group, formed to promote neighborhood organization, including the distribution of neighborhood mini grants, and to assist in community policing.
