Antique Transport Truck

This transport truck is one of 134 produced in 1921 at the Transport Truck Company in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. It weighs two tons with a wheel base of 150 inches. The transport has two 40-gallon water tanks that were pressured by breaking a glass container of sodium into the tanks, providing up to 300 pounds of pressure. The truck could carry up to ten firemen.

Former mayor Paul Hubscher found it in a junkyard near Scottville. The truck was previously used by Ludington Fire Department and retired in 1956. Paul formed a committee with Tom Olson, John Walsh, John Hafer and Ray Joynt to oversee the restoration of the truck. Tom Olson and the students of his Mt. Pleasant automotive shop restored the truck in the early to mid-1970's.

The truck still runs and is used in parades and various functions in our town. It is housed for viewing in front of the Public Safety Building in Mt. Pleasant.
