Stabilization

On February 10th 2005, firefighters trained on vehicle stabilization. The Res-Q-Jack system is a newly purchased stabilization system and when used in accident scenes, the system helps to stabilize vehicles for safe and effective extrication.

Emergency Egress

On June 10, 2004 firefighters trained for last resort emergency egress operations. This procedure is only used if all other options of escaping have been utilized.

SCBA Operations

On May 27, 2004 firefighters performed rescue operations in a smoke filled structure. The training drill operation incorporated using buddy breather systems, victim rescues, and R.I.T. deployment.

Ice Rescue

Firefighters train for ice rescue utilizing the ice rescue sled, dry suits, and throwing devices.

Firefighter Challenge

Members of the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department compete against each other annually in a firefighter challenge course. There are five stations in the event; equipment carry, hose pulling, sledge hammer, charged hose line advance, and dummy carry.

Piercing Nozzle

Piercing Nozzle - The fire department trains with their new piercing nozzle. The nozzle is designed to pierce through doors, walls, floors, ceilings and even block walls.

Ventilation

Ventilation - Training with the ventilation saw and K-12 saw. Firefighters practice ventilation on the roof as well as a wall for the purpose of being able to release hot gases and smoke for safer firefighting.

         CPR & AED Training

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation & AED - Firefighters acquire re-certification for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Auto External Defibrillation.

Hose Appliances

Master Streams and Hose Appliances - The Fire Department trains for multiple hose line functions such as master streams, fire department connections (FDC), piercing nozzle, and water supplies.
