Chris made a short presentation on the work of the Family Recreation Center Task Force.  He indicated that they are preparing an RFP for consultant services.  Chris said they have had three meetings to date, and he felt they were on track and there is a lot of enthusiasm for the process.

Marc Griffis also made a presentation on the status of the Emergency Operations Center.  He covered a number of items during his presentation.  Below is a summary of his comments:

Ÿ         All 16 emergency sirens are operational and tested monthly.

Ÿ         The 1610 AM radio channel has been upgraded to include National Weather Service emergency alerts.

Ÿ         Currently there are seven members on the Emergency Public Warning Team.

Ÿ         Have purchased eight new computers and two laptops from Tribal 2% allocation.

Ÿ         EOC plan is outdated and he will be updating it over the next year.  He will also be doing a threat assessment study.

Ÿ         He is currently administering a number of haz-mat grants for equipment and training.

Ÿ         Received a recommendation that the EOC get a separate phone system.  They are currently tied to Central Dispatch’s system.  May look at City’s EOC Tribal 2% for funds to complete the installation.

Ÿ         Reported that a school violence training exercise will be held on August 18th.

Discussion was held regarding future diversity training.  David Ling will check at the University as he knows that there are people there who conduct diversity training.  He will report back to the Committee.

It was decided that we would invite Joe Sowmick to the next meeting to discuss the 2% process.

The next meeting is scheduled for July 24th at 1:30 p.m.
