Coneys for a Cause to benefit youth in central Michigan

June 4, 2014 -- The central Michigan community can enjoy $1.19 Pixie coney dogs on location at Pixie restaurant or delivered by celebrity servers on June 11 at the ninth annual Coneys for a Cause. This event benefits the Mt. Pleasant Police Department's Youth and Community Services Unit (YCS) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Isabella County.

Participants can enjoy discounted coney dogs until 11 p.m., receive deliveries from celebrity servers such as LaBelle staff, police officers and others until 6 p.m. or compete in the annual Pig Out Contest at 7 p.m. at Pixie.

“It’s always great to see the community come together at a fun event like this,” said Officer Tim Standen of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department. “This year we hope to sell over 13,000 Coney dogs and see the 13-dog record be broken at the Pig Out Contest.”

Pre-order forms can be downloaded here and must be emailed to YCS at no later than 3 p.m. on June 10. The $18 minimum must be met for delivery.

YCS is a partnership organization comprised of police officers, schools, parents, businesses and community members. It provides positive police role models and educational programs such as the Youth Police Academy and U.S. Navy Sea Cadet Program to help reduce and prevent crime.
