Mt. Pleasant Farmers’ Market celebrates 40 years of fresh, local food

farmers' market

June 3, 2013 - The mid-Michigan community can once again browse a wide variety of locally grown fruits, vegetables, crafts and flowers as the City of Mt. Pleasant Farmers’ Market kicks off its 40th anniversary June 6.

For 40 years, the Mt. Pleasant Farmers’ Market has not only offered the freshest in-season fruits and vegetables, but an opportunity to meet and support area farmers. Meeting vendors and purchasing their products provides customers with a chance to learn more about where their food comes from and hear farmer recommendations on how products are best prepared.

As a member of Project Fresh and Senior Project Fresh, the Mt. Pleasant Farmers’ Market strives to make healthy, locally grown food an affordable option for all incomes.

The Mt. Pleasant Farmers’ Market is held every Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Island Park and Saturdays starting June 22 outside City Hall from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

For more information, contact the Parks & Recreation office at 989-779-5331, or visit the farmer's market webpage. Also, follow the Mt. Pleasant Farmers' Market on Facebook.
