Trade Your Treasures & Large Item Collection Programs to take place in May

April 30, 2013 - Two annual programs, Trade Your Treasures and the Residential Large Item Pick Up, are designed to help Mt. Pleasant city residents get rid of items cluttering up their homes, garages and basements.

Trade Your Treasures - May 11 and 12
The Trade Your Treasures program, set for May 11 and 12, is a way for residents to exchange unwanted items with other residents simply by placing the items at the curb.

Residents should place unwanted items at the curbside in front of their homes for trading the mornings of May 11 and 12. Property owners/residents are responsible for the proper disposal of all items not claimed by May 12. Stickers may be purchased to have these items picked up during the Large Item Collection on May 17 (see below). Residents are encouraged to call with a list of items available for trading. Get the list of items for trade here.

Residential Large Item Collection - May 17
City residents who have large items in their homes they wish to dispose of have the opportunity to have those items collected by the City on May 17.

Residents must purchase a sticker for each item by 4:30 p.m. on May 16. Cost is $10/sticker for each non-Freon item or $35/sticker for each item containing Freon, such as an air conditioner or refrigerator. Sticker(s) must be placed on the item(s) and the item(s) must be set at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on May 17. Stickers are available at City Hall, 320 W. Broaway, and Public Works, 1303 N. Franklin, between May 13 and 16.

Unacceptable items include, but are not limited to: Pianos, hot tubs or any oversized item; automobile tires; clothing; hazardous items; and small miscellaneous items. Refrigerators and freezers left at the curb must have the doors secured. Contact Public Works at 779-5401 or Code Enforcement at 779-5347 with questions or for more information.
