Project Planning Schedule
Several stages of site preparation and planning have occurred to date, including the sale of surplus items in 2012, demolition and abatement of two buildings on the property in 2013 and 2014, and completion of a highest and best use study in 2013. In April 2016, a community workshop was held to discuss options for future development of the site; a summary of that event can be downloaded here.
The City has solicited bids for either partial or full demolition of the remaining buildings and infrastructure on the City-owned property. The City Commission is expected to determine the extent of the demolition plan in mid-2016. Additional opportunities for public participation will be announced as they are planned into the future.
