Seasonal Maintenance Worker- Parks Department
Pay Scale: $12.50 to $15.00 Per Hour
Five (5) to Ten (10) Positions Available
General Summary
This position works under the direction of an employee of a higher classification to perform a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled labor tasks requiring considerable physical effort. Experience in gardening or horticulture, athletic field maintenance, painting, and grounds-keeping preferred. Tasks include maintenance of public parks, public spaces, properties and buildings, construction activities, Riverside Riverside Cemetery maintenance, and athletic field maintenance. Operation of light duty trucks, power-driven equipment, and a variety of handheld and small power tools may be required. Performs a variety of cleaning and routine maintenance tasks and other related work.Minimum Requirements
Education equivalent to completion of eleventh (11th) grade and at least six (6) months general laborer experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; possession of valid Michigan driver’s license and safe driving record; demonstrated proficiency in proper, safe, and efficient use of equipment and methods used in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and recreational activity areas; possession of necessary physical capabilities to safely perform related tasks; ability to maintain positive working relationships with the public, other employees, and alternative labor groups; ability to effectively understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.Hours Per Week
