WASTEWATER DEPARTMENT SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKER

Pay Scale: $9.75 to $11.25 per hour*

Four (4) Positions Available

 

General Summary: Under the direction of the Superintendent and/or department staff member selected, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks. Primarily assists plant operators in maintaining buildings, grounds, and equipment. Performs a variety of duties, collecting and organizing records, cleaning and routine maintenance tasks, such as scraping, painting, greasing, etc. Performs limited unskilled and semi-skilled labor tasks in the operation and maintenance of the waste water plant, pump stations, grounds equipment, and operates light duty trucks and power-driven equipment. Performs related work as necessary.

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and at least six (6) months general laborer experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; possession of valid Michigan driver’s license and safe driving record; demonstrated proficiency in proper, safe, and efficient use of equipment and methods used in maintenance of buildings and grounds; possession of necessary physical capabilities to safely perform related tasks; ability to maintain positive working relationships with the public, other employees, and alternative labor groups; ability to effectively understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.

Hours Per Week: Varies based on position.

Employment Duration: Not to exceed nine (9) months, depending on hours worked.
