WATER DEPARTMENT SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKER

Pay Scale: $9.75 to $11.25 per hour*

One (1) Position Available

 

General Summary: Under the direction of the Superintendent and/or department staff member selected, performs maintenance, painting, and cleaning of department grounds, including the water treatment plant, elevated storage tanks, well houses, and high service pump area. Assists in water meter reading, hydrant maintenance, locating service line curb stop locations, updating department data using computerized methods, organizing records, and other related work.

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and at least six (6) months general laborer experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; possession of valid Michigan driver’s license and safe driving record; demonstrated proficiency in proper, safe, and efficient use of equipment and methods used in maintenance of buildings and grounds; possession of necessary physical capabilities to safely perform related tasks; ability to maintain positive working relationships with the public, other employees, and alternative labor groups; ability to effectively understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.

Hours Per Week: Varies based on position.

Employment Duration: Not to exceed six (6) months (April through September), depending on hours worked.
