The Process
HOW PLAYSCAPE 2.0 WILL HAPPEN
A playground designed by kids for kids! Built by the community for the community!
A playground for our community’s children will truly involve all of us. It will begin with community design days where area children will share their visions of their dream playground to incorporate into the design of Playscape 2.0. Playground designers will piece the ideas together to create a final design to be unveiled in late August.
Then, kids and adults of all ages will be asked to donate their time, resources and energy to plan and build the new playground at Island Park. Construction is scheduled for spring 2017. We hope you can join in the fun and excitement of ISLAND PARK PLAYSCAPE 2.0!
DESIGN DAYS
Design Day is where Playscape 2.0 takes shape. A playground design team from Sinclair Recreation and GameTime Playgrounds will gather information from area children to help create a playground design unique to our community.
- In-School Design Days: May 4 and 5
- Local schools – On May 4 and 5, playground designers will visit various local elementary schools during the school day. Children will be asked to draw, sketch or paint their dream playground and give input on what they would like to see in a local playscape.
- Community-Wide Design Night: May 5 at 7 p.m. | Veterans Memorial Library
- The design team will also hold an evening design opportunity for Isabella County kids of all ages and their families. Be sure to bring a picture of your dream playground to give to the designers to help build the new playground!
The public is invited to the Community-Wide Design Night. All are welcome to attend to learn more about this exciting project.
